Pas als jij groen licht geeft, mag een voertuig de weg op. Extra boeiend: je krijgt de kans om je breed te ontwikkelen of juist te specialiseren. Een nieuw type SUV van een Japans merk. Een fabrikant uit ltalië die een verbeterd remsysteem in z’n auto’s wil gebruiken. Een technisch dienst uit ons eigen land vraag namens een fabrikant goedkeuring voor de lancering van een nieuw model. De dossiers waar jij je op richt, blinken uit in afwisseling en staan bol van innovatie en vernieuwing. Steeds weer controleer jij of voertuigsystemen, zoals het rem- en stuursysteem, én volledige voertuigen voldoen aan de internationale ECE en UNECE-wetgeving voor de automotivebranche. Pas als jij akkoord geeft, mag de fabrikant de auto’s daadwerkelijk seriematig produceren en verkopen op de Nederlandse en Europese markt.
Hoe je te werk gaat? Je ontvangt de typegoedkeuringsaanvraag via de technische dienst die door de fabrikant is ingehuurd als testinstantie. Dit digitale dossier neem je nauwkeurig door. Is het dossier compleet? Voldoen de ingediende typegoedkeuringsdocumenten aan de wetgeving? Zijn bij het testen van het systeem of de auto de juiste procedures gevolgd? Voldoet het product aan de wettelijke eisen? Bij vragen of onduidelijkheden schakel je met de technische dienst, met de fabrikant of met collega’s die alles weten van wet- en regelgeving. Is alles in orde? Dan geef je de typegoedkeuring af. Zo borg je een hoog veiligheidsniveau op onze Europese wegen. Een baan met veel verantwoordelijkheid dus!
Je werkt op de afdeling Certificeren in Zoetermeer waar je met ruim vijfentwintig gespecialiseerde collega’s verantwoordelijk bent voor het beoordelen van aanvragen van fabrikanten en technische diensten in de automotivesector. We geven jaarlijks 44.000 typegoedkeuringen af. Zo dragen we bij aan de verkeersveiligheid in heel Europa. We werken hard en doen dit in een open en informele sfeer. We treffen elkaar regelmatig op kantoor, en werken daarnaast vanuit huis.

Safe road traffic? That all begins with you! As certification inspector, you assess hundreds of vehicles and vehicle systems every year. A vehicle or system cannot be used on public roads until you give the green light. Even more exciting: you’ll have the opportunity to develop broadly or specialize in a specific area. You’ll work with passionate experts who support you in the dynamic world of automotive developments.

Working on the mobility of tomorrow
A new type of SUV from a Japanese manufacturer. An Italian manufacturer who wants to introduce an improved brake system in their cars. A technical service from The Netherlands asking for approval to launch a new model. The cases you work on are as diverse as they are innovative. Your job is to make sure vehicle systems - such as the brake and steering system - as well as complete vehicles are compliant with the international ECE and UNECE legislation for the automotive sector. Only when you give your approval, the manufacturer may actually mass produce and sell the cars on the Dutch and European markets.
How you do your job? You receive a type approval application from the technical service that was hired as a testing body by the manufacturer. You carefully review this digital file. Is the file complete? Is the submitted type-approval documentation compliant with legislation? Were the correct procedures followed while testing the system or the vehicle? Does the product meet the legal requirements? In case of questions or ambiguities, you'll contact the technical service, the manufacturer or colleagues who know all about laws and regulations. Is everything in order? Then you issue the type approval. With your work, you contribute to the safety of our European roads. That's quite a responsibility!
This is your home base
You’ll work in the Certification department in Zoetermeer alongside 25+ specialized colleagues. Together, you assess applications from manufacturers and technical services in the automotive sector. Every year, we issue around 44.000 type approvals contributing to road safety across Europe. We work hard, in an open and informal atmosphere. You’ll regularly meet your team at the office, while also working partly from home.

Switching quickly between applications and different parties worldwide is something you do well. Thanks also to your keen insight, you correctly interpret laws and regulations and type approvals in the automotive industry. You work accurately. And is something not clear? Then you know where to find colleagues or external partners for additional explanation. In addition, you remain calm under all circumstances and always keep an overview of your various activities.
